In support of the mission and mandate of Family Services Windsor-Essex (FSWE), the incumbent will oversee and manage the organization’s financial accounting systems including budget preparation and reporting, payroll, benefit administration, payables, and receivables. The incumbent will oversee a team of bookkeepers and financial assistants.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Oversight of a $10 million dollar budget
Managing a team of interdisciplinary professionals
Analyzing and reporting on financial performance, business plans, multiyear projections.
Managing internal controls
Develop, monitor and update annual budgets, track variances, and balance expenditures within program and services allotments impacting viability
Completes ministry, government and funder reports
Manage specific program financial allocations for clients, monitor funds, and provide reports of variances
Monthly bank account reconciliations
Plan, manage and monitor the material management budget including procuring required goods and services (office supplies/equipment, etc.)
Actively participate in leadership/management team initiatives and meetings
Provide monthly financial reports to the Executive Director, Finance and Audit Committee and Board of Directors
Prepare documents for the agency’s annual audit
Preparation of the annual charitable return (T3010)
Directing financial planning and strategy
Developing and implementing accounting policies
Preparing forecasts and budgets
Training finance department staff
Assessing, managing, mitigating, and reporting on risk
Preparing and managing the annual audit process
Education and Experience Required:
CPA designation with 3-5 years of experience
Supervision of staff in a similar capacity
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks and Simply)
Broad knowledge of accounting principles
Experience in working for non-profit organizations
Must have a valid Class G driver’s license and transportation to travel throughout Essex County

Physical Demands:
The job requires work primarily in an office setting.
Working Conditions:
Primarily daytime, office setting; some evening /week-end work may be required on occasion. Occasional travel may be required.
