Management of Interface Operations
– Develop, deploy and maintain inbound and outbound integrations into the Oracle Cerner system from upstream and downstream systems in a variety of methods (i.e. flat files, HL7, etc)
– Responsible for the setup and maintenance of a tiered environment (including Development, Quality Assurance and Production)
– Leading and conducting unit testing and supporting, integrated system testing of all designs through the tiered environment
– Acting as a subject matter expert on all integration projects
– Manage and monitor interface engine and Rhapsody Integration
– Creation, modification, and maintenance of interface messaging
– May work on implementing solutions using Ignite API
– Performs updates and system maintenance activities specific to the product component
– Raise Rhapsody product defects to the product support team and follow up to ensure issues are fixed in a timely fashion Provides on-call support on rotational basis
– Coordinates interface design and build activities with other organizations in the region as required
Project Management and Coordination – works with the client to prioritize projects focused on enhancing or optimizing the Regional Health Information System, as well as executing all phases of the software development life cycle. Examples include:
– Communicates with stakeholders to understand and document their unique business requirements
– Works with all teams of the Regional Health Information System to understand the needs and requirements of integration across the entire system
– Works closely with the Database architect in design of integrated solutions
– Reviews and validates specifications provided by provincial stakeholders, local interface point of contacts and system vendors
– Integrates systems and reconcile requirements across stakeholder groups
– Contributes and documents procedures, guidelines, and project communications for clinical areas, attends on-going team meetings, monthly/ad hoc vendor and end-user meetings
– Identifies and informs the technical integration and reporting manager about key issues and roadblocks that may need attention from senior leadership
– Prioritizes work and assigns it to interface analysts on the team, as required
Education and Learning: Acts as a subject matter expert for system integration and maintains a working knowledge of how Regional Health Information System integrates with other systems; coaches junior and new team members in their respective function; cross-trains in other technical areas; maintains knowledge of technological advances.
– Undergraduate Degree in Computer Informatics, Computer Science, Business, or Math
– Minimum 5+ years of experience focused on developing, deploying and maintaining integrations from any HIS/CIS (Oracle Cerner, EPIC, Meditech) using healthcare interface engine (Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Mirth connect etc.) and 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.
Knowledge and understanding of
– HL7 standards (including v2.1+ and FHIR)
– RESTful web API implementations and methodologies (specifically familiarity with Oracle Cerner Ignite API), preferred
– Hands on interface engine development experience
– Knowledge of principles and methodology of systems development life cycle
