JOB STATEMENT
Formulates and delivers the optimal logistical solutions for our clients by organizing the movement of freight in the most cost-effective and reliable manner possible.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Negotiates rates with carriers, which achieve acceptable margins as established by management.
· Provides and supports all service requirements and needs of all assigned Clients exactly to or higher than their expectations.
· Ensures all assigned carriers are given the highest level of communication and service solution information.
· Ensures any potential service issues are addressed prior to load pickup.
· Ensures our quality on time performance levels are met or exceeded.
· Ensures all carrier information is entered into Carrier Database.
· Problem-solves client specific freight issues from the point of order placement through to completion.
· Collaborates and offers assistance to other team members in delivering optimal transportation service solutions.
· Resolves any service failures and communicates them with Logistics Supervisor.
· Ensures all necessary information for each order is communicated effectively to all team members through clipboard notes and verbal communication.
· Ensures all carriers have the necessary documentation to move loads (insurance, running authorities, and ICC permits, WCB).
· Ensures all trip sheets are accurate and faxed to the carrier in a timely manner. Ensures all information relating to the customers specialized requirements are communicated clearly on the Trip Sheet.
· Researches pricing for new and existing clients.
· Solicits carrier referral business from all existing carriers.
· Ensures appropriate supervisor approves any extra charges payable to a carrier.
· Performs related duties as assigned by Operations and Manager.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
A high level of mental alertness and urgency is required for this position. Resourcefulness and tenacity are also valid indicators of effective performance. The ability to effectively negotiate and present issues in a clear concise manner is required. Must be able to work effectively with teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are required on a daily basis. Must be able to operate efficiently in a Windows environment. TMW experience would be an asset but not required
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Any transportation experience or post-secondary education related to the transportation industry would be an asset but not required. Negotiation training is an asset for this position.
