Our client, a leader in the Automotive field is looking for a Transmission Calibration Engineer on contract basis in Windsor, ON! 100% REMOTE!

The transmission Calibration Engineer will be responsible for playing an integral part in developing the customer driving experience as well as optimizing fuel economy.
The Transmission Calibrator will work on transmission clutch control and/or drive strategy calibration related activities.
The responsibilities can include developing methodologies and tools to support analysis and verification, project management, simulation and analysis, delivery of high quality calibrations from start to finish of new programs, developing and calibrating/validating new features, working with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure that program requirements are met on time, supporting test trips to verify proper transmission operation across operating conditions, as well as troubleshooting and developing solutions to issues as they occur.
This position will work with in-vehicle test instrumentation, ETAS-INCA calibration tools and mathematical analysis tools such as Matlab to meet objectives.
Initially work may be focused on project/process management and tool development so need someone with organizational and coding skills.
Trips to Chelsea Proving Grounds in Chelsea, MI will be required on occasion along with trips to high altitude, hot conditions, and cold conditions that are part of standard practice for transmission calibration engineers. The transmission calibration team is one of the last teams to put hands on a product prior to going to customers. As such, transmission calibration engineers tend to have some of the largest impact directly on the product, and usually very quickly. Projects frequently occur with a timeline in days or weeks rather than months or years. Having an instant and measurable impact on our products is all part of a typical work day.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Developing methodologies and tools to support analysis and verification
• Delivery of high quality calibrations from start to finish of new programs
• Developing and calibrating/validating new features
• Working with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure that program requirements are met on time
• Supporting test strips to verify proper transmission operation across operating conditions
• Troubleshooting and developing solutions to issues as they occur
• Perform calibration work, such as post processing data, generating calibration and technical reports according to the schedule of activities of the vehicle application project
• Certify the quality of the measured data for the execution of the Basic Calibration activities
• Prepare and provide technical reports of the activities carried out following the project’s Quality Gates schedule or whenever requested by the manager
• Review and analyze transmission and hybrid traces, while developing standardized tools and methodologies for transmission shift quality testing
• Lead cross functional system resolution and CoE administration
• Compile calibration changes to support development and calibration maturity targets

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Required Qualifications/Experience:
• Bachelors of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or automotive engineering
• 1+ year of experience in automotive engineering
• Experience with Matlab scripting and other useful data processing languages/tools sets ex: Python, JavaScript/NodesJS, etc..
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with powertrain systems
• Database management of production calibrations
• Demonstrated ability to drive improvements based on customer feedback
• Knowledge of statistics and statistical methods
• Knowledge of software and equipment for calibration, measurement, and analysis (Inca-Eta/Horiba)
• Knowledge of the dyno environment and tools related to it, such as: Puma, Cameo, Indicom, Concerto
• Experience with Formula SAE
