Wood is seeking an experienced Intermediate – Senior Structural Designer to join our busy and growing team in Trail, BC. The role will work within Trail BC location on a hybrid work schedule.
The area offers excellent education and health care facilities, as well as access to world-class skiing at Red Mountain, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, golf and all outdoor activities available in the Kootenays.
This role has overall responsibility for providing Structural Design support on a wide variety of industrial projects.
Wood’s Trail engineering team and company-wide environmental specialists are focused on Carbon Management & reduction initiatives and are providing solutions to Energy services within the region to reduce emissions and protect our environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide structural design, 3D modeling and drafting support for the construction or repair of industrial buildings, facilities and services
Prepare drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and/or wood structures using primarily Aveva E3D/PDMS and/or AutoCAD.
Reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against project standards and specifications.
Prepare MTOs for project estimates.
Review Vendor shop drawings.
Checking work prepared by other Structural Designers.
Perform site visits to obtain field information to support design executon.
Coordinate and work with project team members across all disciplines
Technical diploma with experience in structural design and drafting
5+ years of 3D Design / drafting experience with advanced skills primarily using AVEVA E3D/PDMS
Solid understanding of structural and architectural engineering aspects of light to heavy industrial projects
Experience working on mining and/or heavy industrial projects would be considered an asset
Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
Effective communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Experience with Microsoft Office suite of software
