Analog Devices (NASDAQ: ADI) designs and manufactures semiconductor products and solutions. We enable our customers to interpret the world around us by intelligently bridging the physical and digital worlds with unmatched technologies that sense, measure and connect.
Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) is a maker of analog and digital integrated circuits, specializing in high-performance circuits suited for real-world signal processing. ADI’s signature products include high-speed amplifiers, high-speed/high-resolution analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, high-performance Digital Signal Processors, and Micro-Electro-Mechanical systems. In the high-speed converter market, ADI’s 40% market share is more than double that of its nearest competitor. ADI was founded in 1965 and posted revenues of $7.3 billion in 2021. ADI have more than 24,000 employees worldwide. Approximately 25% of ADI’s employees are engineers.
ADI’s Toronto Design Center (TDC) is located at the corner of College and Bay, within walking distance of the University of Toronto’s main campus. We historically have a close collaboration with University of Toronto faculty at the Department of ECE. ADI’s TDC employs about 30 engineers including the Canadian branch of the High-Speed ADC group. The mission of ADC group is to develop high-speed data converter technology, particularly high-performance continuous-time ADCs, as part of ADI’s advanced core group in the communication division. We work in close collaboration with US & Ireland ADI offices. Selected recent publications for some of the technology developed by our team in collaboration with peers at other sites can be found in 1-4.
We are looking for bright, enthusiastic students who will work 1-on-1 with senior staff during various phases of the development of new high-speed converter ICs using advanced CMOS processes.
Job Description
1. Work with a small industry-leading IC design team to complete the development of a new high-speed converter IC for next generation wireless communications.
2. Assist in the design and verification, especially physical design and post-layout simulation, of IC sub-blocks.
3. Assist with laboratory evaluation and debugging.
This position offers the motivated students the opportunity to learn from some of the best engineers in the industry, while also pushing the technology envelope in the form of a new and aggressive product. This is the ideal opportunity for a smart, hard-working student who is driven to know more about integrated circuits than is taught in class.
Job Requirements
1. Intuitive understanding of analog circuits at the transistor level.
2. Strong grasp of signal processing concepts: time/frequency domain, s- and z- transforms, digital signal processing.
3. Familiarity with schematic capture and transistor-level circuit simulation.
4. Conceptual understanding of IC physical design, i.e. IC layout.
Any experience with software tools such as MATLAB, SPICE, Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre LVS and DRC, or with printed circuit board design/debugging, or with lab evaluation, will be regarded favourably.
