As part of our HR Team, you’ll be an important representative of the company, contributing to the formulation, implementation, and management of the HR system.
At our Brampton Tubular Products facility, we are currently recruiting a full-time permanent Human Resources Generalist. This unionized facility manufactures steel tubing using a variety of materials and finishes.
The Human Resources Generalist supports learning and development, performance management, manpower planning, policy and procedure review/development, labour relations, payroll and benefit administration, and full cycle recruitment as well as other duties as required.
Duties and responsibilities
· Oversee the Training system to ensure training is up-to-date (Internal training, external training, corporate mandated training, legislative required training), and track training KPI’s to assist in business planning.
· Maintain and update internal systems and reporting instruments (OneHRIS, Intelex, KRONOS, Training Matrix, Service Awards, Headcount, Management Presentations, etc.)
· Oversee full cycle recruitment for unionized and non-unionized positions (including but not limited to advertising, pre-screening candidates, scheduling & attending second interviews, medical appointments, administering and scoring testing, background checks and any other items related to recruitment).
· Oversee the on-boarding process through orientation, new hire training sessions and required documentation.
· Assist in manpower planning and track manpower to budget and report monthly KPI’s.
· HR policy development: Review and/or develop HR policies including, attendance management, disciplinary guidelines, job descriptions etc.
· Maintain Human Resources documentation, including corrective actions and ensure review and updates as per program requirements and report out on inefficiencies as identified.
· Payroll administration and processing: oversee the administration for the Brampton hourly group’s payroll (KRONOS system) and assist the Payroll Administrator with bi-weekly processing for entire Brampton group.
· Oversee benefit and pension administration for differing group plans within the organization.
· Oversee short term and long term disability claims administration: maintain contact with employees and provide status updates to Management, and coordinate a safe return to work.
· Assist with WSIB incident claims management process and coordinate with Health & Safety Coordinator as necessary.
· Performance Management: oversee & track probationary review and GEDP process to ensure compliance with internal and corporate requirements. Draft discipline letters and attend discipline meetings as necessary.
· Assist with labour relations & grievance resolution as required for unionized employees.
· Conduct timely harassment investigations as required and assist with disciplinary actions up to and including terminations.
· Ensure department compliance with legislated requirements.
· Other duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
Qualifications
· Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human Resources
· 2-5 years of related progressive HR experience, previous manufacturing and/or unionized experience considered an asset
· CHRP designation considered an asset
· Previous payroll and/or WSIB claims experience considered an asset
· Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Effective organizational and analytical skills.
