Position Summary:
The Senior Analyst, Strategic Finance will be an integral component of the organizations financial decision-making process. Through a variety of asset level and company-wide analysis, the Senior Analyst will provide exceptional recommendations to the organization on investment and capital allocation decisions based in rigorous financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the REIT industry and corporate finance principles, strong financial modelling and presentation skills, and be comfortable prioritizing multiple projects in a high-exposure role. Given the range of cross-functional interactions and executive exposure, advanced communication skills are a necessity to succeed in the role.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Assist in financial analysis and evaluation of asset level performance and individual asset plans/corporate level strategies
- Assist in preparing the annual Strategic Review for Board of Directors
- Build financial models from scratch, and improve existing models that assist in evaluating opportunities and provide guidance for capital allocations decisions
- Prepare presentations that effectively consolidate and communicate the results of complex analysis to C-level management
- Operationalize strategic insights and support execution of strategic plans through working with a variety of internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Procurement, Operations, Accounting, and Investments
- Provide financial support to the Development team, including maintaining condominium and multi-residential proformas to evaluate financial opportunities
- Develop an understanding of emerging trends and industry dynamics
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner
- Provide ad-hoc assistance to Associate Director, Strategic Finance, and Chief Investment Officer, as required
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate Bachelors degree in Finance or related field
- CPA and/or CFA designated, or nearing completion of designation
- 1-3 years of relevant working experience (corporate development, transaction advisory, corporate finance)
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of Real Estate industry, including analytical techniques, valuation methods, and major KPI’s
- Outstanding financial modeling skills to develop comprehensive models, forecast the effect of transactions on the consolidated REIT, sensitize analysis, and develop business cases
- Strong technical skills in relation to Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with SAP, Argus and/or Power BI is considered an asset
- Highly collaborative individual with demonstrated track record as a self-starter and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
