City of Lloydminster Looking for HR Generalist at Lloydminster, AB Full Time

Duties:

Reporting to Manager, Human Resources, the HR Generalist is responsible for providing expertise and support to leadership and staff mainly in the areas of talent acquisition, onboarding, orientation and performance management to ensure an optimal employment experience with the City of Lloydminster.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruitment

• Works with Managers to develop job descriptions and position postings that adhere to City policies and the Collective Agreement.
• Works with Hiring Managers to develop interview questions and conducts interviews.
• Completes background and reference checks to ensure suitability of candidates; works with department managers in making sound hiring decisions.
• Prepares offer letters; schedules and conducts employee orientation sessions.
• Works with various departments to promote recruitment initiatives.

Administration

• Drafts and issues offer letters, employment agreements, reclassifications, position change forms and end of service checklists; ensures accuracy of employment related files and documents.
• Processes administrative functions including: data entry, copying, scanning and filing for employee personnel files.
• Maintains the record retention and management for employee files and employment related information in compliance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP).

Other

• Facilitates disciplinary and/or performance related meetings in accordance with the collective agreement and standard operating protocol.
• Maintains confidentiality and compliance of personal information in accordance with FOIP and the City of Lloydminster Privacy Policy.
• Conduct Exit Interviews and identify/report any trends.
• Advises on Collective Agreement and Employment Legislation.
• Provides engaging employee orientation sessions; trains staff on applicable policy, protocols and procedures.
• Builds relationships with all stakeholders to promote a harmonious working relationship.
• Other related duties as required.

Schedule:

This position is office based, normal working hours are between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with the occasional requirement to work outside these standard hours.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• Diploma in: Human Resources and Labour Relations, Business Administration or a related discipline with 2 – 5 years progressive work experience in a recruitment environment, or a Bachelor Degree in: Human Resources and Labor Relations, Business Administration or a related discipline with 1 – 2 years progressive work experience in a recruitment environment. Knowledge of applicable Federal and Provincial Employment and Human Rights Legislation.
• Strong computer skills including areas in Microsoft Suite is essential.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of ethics, discretion and confidentiality.
• Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume, fast paced workload, while meeting tight timelines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills that contribute to working effectively in a diverse working environment.
• A valid Class 5 Driver’s License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract is required. This position may be required to operate a personal vehicle for business purposes.
