Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The Sessional Lecturer will teach a one-half credit, Graduate level course, HESA 5505 – Strategy and Change Leadership in Health Systems, in the Master of Health Administration program during the winter term (January to April 2024). Please refer to the Dalhousie University Academic Calendar for the course description. Responsibilities include: all aspects of teaching and administering the course; course preparation including course content for lectures, test/assignments/exam preparation and evaluation/marking of student course work, as well as, providing tutorial support to students. The Sessional Lecturer is the Professor of Record for this course. The position reports to the
Director of the School.
Qualifications/Requirements Of Position
A PhD or master’s degree in health administration or relevant equivalent is required along with a minimum of five years work experience in the health sector. Experience as a mid to senior administrator in healthcare would be viewed favourably. Previous teaching experience is a strong asset. Experience with Brightspace is preferred.
Additionally, the successful candidate must possess an awareness of the management of health care organizations and systems within their wider social, political, and cultural contexts. Theoretical and practical knowledge of the following topics is also essential: the assessment of organizational effectiveness; the governance of healthcare organizations; strategic planning and methods for modifying and changing an organization’s strategy as a result of environmental assessments; the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of organizational strategies; the importance of organizational culture when implementing organizational change; the utility of project management during strategy implementation; and organizational learning and its importance in change management.
