With a strong focus on future growth and business improvement we have created a new position in the business for a highly motivated individual to join our team in the role of Senior HR Business Partner. This role is responsible for supporting the business to deliver a full life cycle of HR related services within Canada to ensure the Company effectively recruits, engages, develops and retains employees within a values-oriented, high performance culture. In addition, the role will partner with the global HR team and broader business on organizational development and employee related projects that support the business vision, strategic plan, and operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee and Industrial Relations:
- Support management of employment contracts in accordance with relevant provincial legislation.
- Provide advice and support to Managers on relevant policies, counseling/interviews, addressing grievance disputes;
- Work with managers on timely resolution of HR issues, discipline, counseling and termination in line with company policy
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Organizational Development:
- Support and drive the values/expected behaviors of the business.
- Champion and develop induction process to orientate new employees.
- Actively measure exit processes to appropriately tackle turnover and provide meaningful retention strategies and analysis of recruitment practices.
- Support Exit process for employees
- Support training and professional development initiatives within the organization.
- In-line with North American team, administer the quarterly Performance Review process and support management efforts in completing
- Provide guidance to department leaders on employee engagement strategies and retention efforts.
- Partners with leadership and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Support managers in creating a safety focused culture and support with RTW process if required
Recruitment:
- Establish and maintain relationships with hiring managers to stay abreast of current and future hiring needs
- Assist with managing and identifying succession planning requirements
- Participate in candidate interviews to gather information regarding experience, training and suitability for role and company culture/values
Remuneration and Benefits:
- Ensure all staff are paid in accordance with contracts of employment, relevant laws, organizational policy, and legislative requirements.
- Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions, and internal transfers
- Work with Finance and Director of HR to support pay review cycle, associated processes and improvements.
- Assist international employees with expatriate assignments, VISA processing, contracts, and related matters
Project Management, Process Improvement and Reporting:
- Ad hoc tasks; as requested by Director of HR & Chief People Officer in accordance with overall role requirements
- Working with the HR Administrator to collate and report to the business HR metrics (e.g. engagement, retention, recruitment and ER/IR activity)
- Monthly Executive Dashboard Management.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in a HR role including resolving complex employee relations issues and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Law, Psychology, Business or Organizational Development.
- Broad knowledge and experience in recruitment, employment law, Industrial instruments, organizational development, employee relations and development
- Exhibit knowledge of hiring practices, behavioral-based interview techniques, tracking processes for applicants and open positions, and recruiting metrics
- Well-developed communications skills with the ability to relate effectively with a wide range of people, positively influencing outcomes and obtaining cooperation
- Well organized with the ability to plan work, cope with conflicting work pressures, establish appropriate priorities, and meet deadlines
- Has a sense of humor, is self-confident and a highly energetic, creative thinker
- Has the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Has a high skill level in customer service and teamwork
- Excellent level of computer literacy (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
