Intent of the process
The intent of the ADM(Mat) EN-ENG-02/03 and ENG ODP inventory is to identify applicants with potential for an Engineering career within ADM (Mat), and other DND organizations. The process will maintain a continual intake and assessment standard, enabling applicants to progress at their own pace towards potential promotion eligibility through this talent management approach. Applicants who are recently graduated with no years of experience are eligible for appointment at the EN-ENG-02 level. Applicants with at least one year engineering experience are eligible to be appointed to the EN-ENG-03 level.
Applicants who are successfully appointed to an EN-ENG-02 or EN-ENG-03 position will be eligible to compete for promotion to the EN-ENG-04 level once four years of ENG experience have been attained.
Applicants wishing to be considered for the ENG ODP will be asked through the application process to identify as such. Applicants may apply to join the ENG ODP with or without previous years of engineering work experience. Please note that years of engineering work experience will NOT be credited towards an accelerated completion of the program. Applicants that are selected for the ENG ODP join at the EN-ENG 02 level, are promoted to EN-ENG 03 during the program and graduate at the EN-ENG 04 level upon successful completion.

Education
Graduation with an engineering degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position. (Scanned copy of degree or final transcript is required).
- A degree is defined as a baccalaureate, Masters or PhD in engineering as established by educational authorities. The degree must clearly state “Engineering” in the title eg. Bachelor of Engineering – Mechanical, or Bachelor of Applied Science – Electrical Engineering. Degrees that do not include the word Engineering are not acceptable, unless attestation is provided by the University that the degree is, in fact, an engineering degree. Note also, that some degrees are provided by the Engineering department and are not necessarily engineering degrees. Hence the requirement to have “Engineering” on the degree itself.
Foreign credentials must be recognized by The Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials.

Engineering Experience
EN-ENG-02 – There are no years of engineering experience required (after graduation) to apply for an ENG-02 position. This level is suited to new graduates, or to candidates with engineering degrees who have never worked as an engineer.
EN-ENG-03 – At least one year of engineering experience, after graduation, is required to apply for an EN-ENG-03 position.
Other – If you already have four or more years of engineering experience, you may qualify for the EN-ENG-04 Continuous Pool (Non-Advertised). Please contact [email protected] for more information.

Organizational Needs
As a result of workforce adjustment, affected indeterminate DND employees within the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment (AETE – UIC 2671) at 4 Wing Cold Lake or within the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS – UIC 7777) at Canadian Forces Base Suffield will be appointed or deployed to positions for which they are qualified ahead of other candidates.
