The Manitoba Geological Survey, Resource Development Division facilitates sustainable development of the province’s mineral, petroleum and pore-space resources. The Geological Survey Branch conducts a wide range of investigations, which include the examination of exposed bedrock, subsurface materials, and surficial sediments including sand, gravel and organic deposits throughout Manitoba. The branch provides data and products, such as geological maps and reports, metallic and industrial mineral deposit reports and databases, mineral resource assessments, targeted geoscience research, development of exploration models, and maintenance of data inventories. By developing an understanding of Manitoba’s geology and geological processes, the Geological Survey Branch promotes mineral exploration opportunities and contributes to wise land-use management.

Essential:
Completion of a recognized post-secondary training program in library technology or library science. An equivalent combination of education/training and experience may be considered.
Experience analysing and interpreting legislation, policies and procedures pertaining to privacy, records management and/or library best practices, and providing recommendations to all levels of staff.
Experience developing and implementing administrative and operational policies and procedures.
Strong writiten communication skills with the ability to prepare, edit and format correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities, tight conflicting deadlines.
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people.
Experience managing confidential and sensitive information
Proficient with computer applications such as but not limited to Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), integrated library systems (ILS) and other library applications, tools and Internet databases
Desired
Experience with records management software
Knowledge of geology, mining and petroleum industries

As the Confidential Records Keeper for the branch this position provides oversight, leadership and support to the branch in adhering to all requirements related to records management. This includes liaising and coordinating with the Mining, Oil and Gas Chief Mining Engineer and other internal and external agencies as needed with respect to provincial policies, guidelines, industry-specific and security standards, procedures and legislation relating to the management of confidential records to ensure consistency with provincial policies, guidelines and legislation.
