Contract – 12 months

Our client is a leading municipality owned Energy utility company looking to hire an Accounts Receivable Specialist for a 12 month contract with possibility of extension.

WORK ILLUSTRATION:

The Contractor, Accounts Receivable Support position provides critical support for our residential, commercial and industrial customers, supporting activities in the meter/order to cash process. The incumbent will interact with external customers and internal stakeholders answering inquiries, assessing and preparing various financial statements, treasury management reports, and cost analysis documents. All activities are performed in a manner which ensures the organization meets legal and regulatory compliance obligations.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Assists in monitoring and analyzing of capital, recoverable, operating and maintenance costs
• Process payment of invoices associated with the purchase of goods and/or services
• Prepares various accounting reports and resolves any discrepancies.
• Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts
• Obtains and validates documents providing accurate and timely information to support processes and systems.
• Performs daily bank reconciliation, working closely with the bank, finance and treasury
• Performs journal entries in accordance with auditing requirements, including preparation of any trial balances or other accounting documentation

REQUIREMENTS:

• University degree or three (3) year College diploma (Business, Accounting, Finance based studies).
• Minimum two years of previous professional work experience in financial, accounts receivable operations . (Experience in a customer centric environment is preferred).
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, mathematical, and problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve complicated issues.
• Highly proficient in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience using in-house database functions at an intermediate level or higher.
• Advanced communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Customer service and relationship building skills
• Ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of the electricity sector, specifically the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and other regulatory codes preferred
• Detail-oriented, proactive and highly organized with the ability to prioritize, and adhere to tight timelines.
• Demonstrates sound business acumen
• Accounting software experience across all types of systems is preferred.
• Proactive problem solving on issues
• Experience in accounts receivable operations within regulated industry environment an asset
