About this exciting opportunity:
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist for our head office located in North York. This is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days in the office reporting to the AR/AP Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for reviewing, verifying and reconciling, coding, accruing and filing in specific detail incoming invoices from manufacturers and other vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain proper backup documents in all AP transactions
- Post and pay vendor invoices in a timely manner
- Monthly reconciliation of vendor statements
- Take ownership of systems, policies, and procedures related to AP functions
- Journal entries and assisting with month-end preparation of accruals
- Adhere to tight monthly deadlines
- Prepare monthly bank debits, EFTs, and credit card postings and reconciliations
- Effectively communicate with all internal and external inquiries
- Strong relationship builder to liaise with multiple vendors and suppliers
- Provide recommendations in project work that promote efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide other accounting support on an ad hoc basis as needed
What you bring:
- 7+ years of related experience, specifically with Ontario provincial rules and regulations
- Extremely well organized, laser-like attention to detail, and critical thinker
- Work with a sense of urgency and quick turn around
- Superior written and verbal communicator with the ability to question discrepancies and chase down the corrective actions that are needed
- Understand and work within defined business procedures and processes
- Ability to manage shifting and conflicting priorities
- 7+ years of related experience, specifically with Ontario provincial rules and regulations
- Expert proficiency with QuickBooks
- Very knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
- Collaborative team player
- Precision data entry skills
