SUPPORTS NEEDED
Plan and prepare a quality program based on the center’s philosophy
Plan, organize and lead daily activities designed to stimulate the intellectual, physical and emotional growth of children
Encourage cooperation and participation of all children in planned activities
Create a safe and secure environment
Liaise with co-workers and other professionals to meet the needs of the children
Use guidance techniques that are age-appropriate, fair, and encourage socially acceptable behaviour
Adhere to the B.C. Child Care Licensing Regulations
Provide interaction with the children as a group and as required on an individual basis
Observe for signs of ill health upon arrival and throughout the day
Implement the scheduled housekeeping duties
Teach health and nutrition, rest habits and personal hygiene
Administer basic First Aid as required
Maintain constant supervision of indoor and outdoor playMaintain a positive liaison with parents
Contribute to the monthly parent newsletter
Participate in the planning and implementing of special events, workshops and meetings for parents
Act as a resource person
Maintains up to date records concerning individual children, attendance, child observations, etc.
Write parent handouts
All persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties
Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
You have education, experience, or carry a willingness to learn. You are community-minded, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator.
Early Childhood Educator Certification or Diploma
Current First Aid Certificate as per Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulations
Approved with a Certificate from the BC Child Care Registry to work as an ECE Educator
Experience working with children under the age of six, preferably in a daycare center
Preference may be given to those having knowledge of the Okanagan culture and traditions
