YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Transportation and Logistics Lead is responsible for outbound finished goods, ensuring correct distribution of pulp to warehouses and direct customers.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Production tracking and verification;
- Confirm and edit shipping transactions;
- Managing data entered into railway’s car shipment systems, including CP Rail’s and Steelroads;
- Facilitate mill site inventory counts and monitor inventory including daily adjustments;
- Facilitate the disposition of off grade pulp on mill site;
- Coordinate annual mill site inventory count, or as needed;
- Supervise hourly warehouse employees including overseeing safe work practices;
- Ensure loading procedures are up to date and available for hourly personnel;
- Coordinate railcar supply with CP Rail and handle transportation issues as they arise;
- Monitor chemical rail car supply and provide backup coverage for chemical railcar empty returns;
- Jointly responsible for the Railway Safety Plan in accordance with BC Safety Authority for Railway Regulations;
- Assist Pulp Sales Service Leader in responding to problems with shipments that pertain to: mill shipping errors, short/over shipments, excessive pulp damage, loading terminal errors’ assist in keying responses into KPS;
- Provide relief for Pulp Sales Service Leader as required;
- Ensure proper pulp storage procedures are being followed and that damaged units are not shipped;
- Manage truck supplier warehouse, terminal and transportation services;
- Coordinates suitable short-term storage to cover high inventories;
- Order bale wire and ensure supply;
- Record and correct any inventory discrepancy of pulp on site;
- Confer with colleagues on current pulp grading and quality as needed;
- Provide shipping notification of export shipments (both railcars and trucks) to the appropriate terminals along with hi-grade information;
- Mitigate pulp transportation issues;
- Maintain relationship with Port of Vancouver;
- Facilitate inspections at Port Vancouver warehouses for corporate employees;
- Travel to Vancouver approximately six times a year to conduct investigations, inventory counts, obtaining warehouse space if needed, etc.

- Exceptional coaching skills with proven ability to coach varying levels of the operation;
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain management, Transportation and Logistics or a related field;
- Minimum of five years warehouse experience working with industrial railways and truck transport companies;
- Previous experience supervising a team;
- Knowledge of and previous experience in inventory management;
- Experience with dangerous goods shipping; Canadian Rail Operating Rules Certification would be an asset;
- Pulp and paper industry experience is an asset;
- Strong computer system aptitude and experience working with various types of software including Microsoft Office Suite; previous experience using Steelroads, CP Rail’s Customer Station system, and CN Rail’s Velocity system is an asset.
