Overview:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all haulers operating at Lafarge meet all the requirements of the Lafarge Contract Safety Management system and Safe Trucker Program. This position will promote safety culture through engagement with third party haulers, Lafarge contractors and employees, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents. Develop, promote, administer and enforce safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that Lafarge sites; depots, pits and operations meet or exceed all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Contractor Safety Management (Haulers):
Accountable for Safe Trucker Program:
Responsible for ensuring all hired/contracted haulers comply with safety standards set out by Lafarge
Review and onboarding of new hired haulers
Responsible for communication of Safety concerns, toolboxes, and actionable items to hired haulers
Conduct annual Hauler safety orientations. Designing and presenting new materials; reviewing all previous incidents.
Ensure all vendors and contract drivers have reviewed and signed the Master Motor Carrier Agreement annually.
Ensure all vendors and contract drivers are in good standing with WCB; current and appropriate drivers’ license and abstracts.
Ensure that all trucks and trailers have current and adequate insurance minimums and inspection certificates.
Responsible for creating and maintaining a driver database that includes the above information for all contracted trucks, trailers and drivers.
Ensuring that truck and driver safety audits take place, both on and off site. This includes checking driver orientation cards, PPE, working radios, spill kits, fire extinguishers, etc.
Assist with incident investigation for all haul truck incidents that take place on Lafarge sites. Where necessary, also included in investigations that take place on customer sites.
Attend pre-job meetings and preview and analyze job site requirements. Perform pre-job inspections looking for accessibility, delivery problems, truck configurations, and safety concerns as required by dispatch and/or sales.
Facilitate safe Hauler meetings; develop relationships.
Ensure that the fill site circulation plan is adhered to each day, that fill site roads and dump pads meet the size and structural integrity set out in Lafarge policy, that spacing between haul vehicles is maintained and that entry to the pad is clearly delineated.
Carrier audits regarding IVMS or Scorecards
Other Responsibilities
Supervision of scale and dispatch employees at all sites, including staffing, scheduling, and training process.
Customer service which includes resolving any delivery concerns & disputes with internal and external customers and haulers
Coordinates closely with other product line personnel (e.g. Aggregates production team, RMX, construction, asphalt) to ensure customer service deliverance and logistics solutions
Ensuring haul roads in and on Lafarge Pits are properly maintained
Maintaining remote scales to meet internal and regulator (Measurement Canada) requirements
Work with Municipalities, Provincial and Federal regulators to ensure transportation road safety compliance is met
Health & Safety:
Demonstrates a commitment, leadership and mentorship in Health & Safety.
Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example.
Provide leadership and guidance in Health and Safety policy and procedures.
Works with SK Aggregate sites to support and encourage a safe working culture.
Completion of Field Level Risk Assessments for implementation of Action Items.
Identification and implementation of general safety improvements.
Return to Work engagement; developing light duty / modified options for Aggregate and Marine operations.
Assist safety department when needed.
Relationship with Others:
Reports to Operations Manager
Works closely with the Production Supervisor, Operations Engineer, Area Safety Representatives, Land and Environmental Staff and local Dispatch and Scaling Teams.
Collaborates with the maintenance team on the execution of mechanical and electrical maintenance at sites
Financial Responsibility:
Ensure efficient utilization of resources provided, and optimize costs where practical and possible.
Participate in or lead the development and implementation of site specific actions to reduce costs.
Communication & Coordination:
Ensures effective communication of CSM and Health and Safety policy and procedure to Plant Operations, External Customer Operations, Contract Haulers and 3rd party Contractors.
Works with Health and Safety and Operations to coordinate activity plans, audit schedules.
Documents & communicates CSM and Health and Safety non-conformance. Works with Operations to ensure they are addressed in a timely and effective manner.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma, College Degree in Engineering or Business would be definite assets.
A minimum of five years Supervisory/Managerial experience working in a similar environment: An acceptable combination of education and work experience.
A valid Class 5A Driver’s License (and abstract) for mobility between sites. Preferably candidate will have a Class 1A License.
Experience and Skill Set:
