Position Overview:
LawDepot.com is currently expanding and looking to recruit a Vice President of Software Development. Supporting the CEO, you will play a pivotal role as a software development executive, overseeing our legal software platform and delivering high-quality projects. This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week remotely.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee our 90+ person team comprised of Managers, Technical Leads, Architects, Scrum Masters and development staff working to deliver an exceptional experience for our millions of users
- Provide technical guidance and direction for multiple software development teams
- Develop high level strategy and collaborate on technical roadmaps and specifications
- Ensure teams are using the ideal tools, technologies, and processes
- Design and optimize the Information Systems’ organizational chart
- Set department objectives, regularly evaluate results, and conduct performance management
- Manage project schedules, scope, work estimates, and ensure deliverables are on time and within budget
- Contribute to and review architecture designs
- Encourage collaboration, sharing of information, visibility of results and work activity
- Maintain industry-leading practices, and establish appropriate coaching and feedback to optimize excellent performance
- Collaborate with cross functional departments to determine business requirements, overcome obstacles, and strategize timelines
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Proficient in offering technical leadership in software development, along with management of people, projects, and processes
- 10+ years of experience in Software Leadership and Development oriented roles
- In-depth knowledge of software development best practices
- Post-Secondary Education in Computing Science or equivalent
- Experience with our core technology stack: C#, TypeScript / JavaScript, SQL, .NET (5+, Core)
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and design patterns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Aptitude to perform assessments with excellent judgement and business acumen
- Proactive drive to achieve objectives
- Efficient organization, and effective time management with the ability to summarize information
- Flexibility to address complex scenarios or demanding situations
- Additional knowledge in the following areas would be an asset:
- Agile processes
- Database: SQL, LINQ, Entity Framework Core
- JavaScript frameworks: Vue 3, Angular, React
- Unit Testing frameworks: Vitest, NUnit, xUnit, Selenium, Jest
- SCSS (or CSS, LESS, SASS), JSON, HTML
