As we take on this exciting new challenge, we are seeking a Senior Accountant to join us.
As we work with a hybrid model, only residents of the Lower Mainland will be considered at this time as we do require team members to collaborate in office. This is not a full-time remote opportunity.
Come join our Finance team! In this dynamic finance role, you will be responsible for understanding and supporting the financial reporting and analysis for MLA Canada. You will report to the Controller and help us meet reporting deadlines and ensure reliable, accurate information is provided to key decision makers in a timely manner.
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and organizational skills who is either currently pursuing or recently obtained a CPA, or equivalent, designation. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of full cycle financial reporting and possess a keen interest in real estate markets.
The core responsibilities for the role include:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and indirect management of Finance team
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements
- Ownership of overall Financial Reporting
- Prepare/review Monthly Financial Package including;
- Prepare/review Annual Budget Reports
- Prepare, review, analyze Project Proformas and Staffing Budgets
- Prepare/review Balance Sheet and Income Statement reconciliations and schedules
- Review Bank reconciliations
- Review data integrity of transaction uploads
- Review Accounts Receivable and Revenue reports
- Review Accounts Payable
- Concur – review expense reports and credit card reports for coding and accuracy
- Vendor invoices – review coding and accuracy
- Oversee Cash Management
- Liaise with Bank Account Manager
- Support timely Invoicing and collection of Accounts Receivable
- Forecast Cashflow
- Review Weekly Cash Report
- Identify and monitor grant and incentive opportunities for funding and financing
- Manage Credit Facility
- Administrator for credit cards
- Manage line of credit and advise on opportunities to minimize borrowing costs and maximize earnings on cash balances
- Prepare/review monthly and quarterly Tax Filings (GST/PST/EHT/WCB) as applicable
- Prepare/review semi-monthly payroll and commissions
- Management and delegation of year end engagements and filings
- Liaise with external auditors/accountants
- Prepare and review year end reconciliations, journal entries, and working papers
- Ensure timely completion of filings (tax returns, BCFSA, REC Alberta, etc)
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a full-cycle accounting environment
- Experience in real estate industry considered an asset but not mandatory
- Currently pursuing or recently obtained CPA designation
- Excellent communication (written & verbal) skills
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and Sage50 Accounting
- Ability to produce results independently while maintaining a positive team environment
- An amazing attention to detail with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Time-management skills working under pressure with multiple projects and timelines
