PeaceHealth is seeking a Program Coordinator Total Joint – Administration for a Temporary, 1.00 FTE, Day position.

Estimated duration: 6 months

The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $46.46 – $69.68. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Job Summary

Responsible for serving as the day to day facilitator within the Total Joint Replacement Program and will coordinate/supervise the development, implementation, and organization of all elements of the joint replacement program. Responsible for coordinating the efforts between physicians, hospital administration, staff, volunteers and patients while tracking the progress for the program and identifying areas for improvement. Responsible for patient education, coordination of patient activities and administrative activities within the program.

Essential Functions

• Facilitate program development and oversees the day to day patient management within the Total Joint Center.

• Coordinate and lead regularly scheduled meetings effectively with all participating parties within the Total Joint Excellence Program, such as unit staff, medical director, other physicians and key staff.

• Develop and maintain standardized systems of care with the surgeons, including pre-op, post-op and discharge orders.

• Maintain effective communications with team members and Medical Center departments. Build relationships successfully with various internal and external stakeholders.

• Serve as the clinical resource for joint replacement care best practice by educating nurses and physicians, monitoring patient care in real time, and advocating for necessary elements of care. Develop and help maintain standardized care plans with the surgeons and other key clinical areas including pre-op, post-op and discharge orders.

• Ensure appropriate pre-op education and preparation for each patient prior to surgery. Responsible for developing and overseeing pre and post op teaching classes. Coordinate and distribute teaching materials to physician’s offices. Oversees the development and on-going editing of all program forms and materials.

• Responsible for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to include, but limited to tracking surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction, clinical/customer service standards, patient complications, denied days, hospital-wide survey results, nurse call back results, length of stay and volumes, etc. and other areas as need determines. Responsible for developing and implementing improvement plans and other patient satisfaction activities.

• Attend and maintain membership on appropriately assigned committees. Chairs the Total Joint Excellence Committee; in partnership with the Unit Manager.

• Demonstrate good financial / resource stewardship. Identify patient amenities and secure necessary resources to administer the services.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Required: Degree from an Accredited School of Nursing -OR- Physical Therapy

• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, if nursing background

Experience

• Preferred: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a clinical RN or PT

• Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of healthcare supervisory or program coordination experience

• Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient orthopedic/rehabilitation setting

Credentials

• Required: Registered Nurse

• Required: Physical Therapist – Washington

• Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

• Preferred: Orthopedic Certification

Skills

• Demonstrated skill in teaching adults of varying competency level is required. Must be able to design and implement instructional modules. (Required)

• Excellent verbal and written skills. (Required)

• The ability to interact with all medical center departments and to work independently on projects. (Required)

• The ability to demonstrate a courteous, caring and understanding attitude toward patients, families, co-workers, visitors and physicians. (Required)

• The ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively communicate with all levels of hospital staff, physicians and patients. (Required)

• Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

• Occasional Kneeling.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
