Overview

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for an Advisor, Human Resources to join the team. This position reports to the Supervisor, Advisory Services in the Human Resources Service Unit, part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division. The Advisor, Human Resources is accountable for providing tactical HR service delivery to the business and executing people strategies in close collaboration with the HR Strategic Partners. They are responsible for working closely with stakeholders across HSU to deliver objectives and offer specialized HR advisory services, while also supporting our target operating model transformation and the evolution of HR service delivery at Pembina.

Working cross functionally within the organization, you are a facilitator and coach for leaders and employees to provide knowledgeable counsel that is grounded in human resources best practices. As a seasoned HR Advisor, you play a key role in mentoring and coaching peers to build both organizational and individually capability.

Summary of Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Supporting the Business:

• Provide an exceptional level of support to HR Strategic Partners enabling the delivery of efficient and effective HR solutions to business clients;
• Support the execution of HR services and programs with tools and information that meet the needs of our clients, create efficiency, deliver integrated people solutions, and foster collaboration across HSU;
• Provide HR advisory support to employees and leaders across Pembina and ensure key HR practices are aligned with employment standards and provide integrated solutions to the organization that mitigates risk. These areas are related to human capital (recruitment and selection, onboarding, employee development, reorganizations, leave management, off-boarding, leadership development, succession planning), and performance management (performance and goals, coaching, employee relations & workplace investigations);
• Draft letters and employment changes (change letters, notifications, standard program emails, resignations, leaves of absence, disability management letters, etc.);
• Provide timely reporting and analysis to enable HR Strategic Partners to delivery strategic service to business clients;
• Proactively provide thought leadership to business leader by:

o developing and implementing fit for purpose people strategies aligned to achieving current business goals and scalable for realizing future objectives;

o demonstrating sound business acumen by understanding business challenges, identifying organizational and talent opportunities, and implementing practical solutions; and,

o understanding and applying external market factors/data to influence and optimize competitive people strategies.

• Coach HR team members to develop and apply consultative/facilitative skills and approaches to their clients’ business problems and opportunities.

Support Labour Relations Activities:

• Attend to grievances and labour relations matters in unionized work locations;
• Represent HSU at the negotiation table;
• Design sustainable processes and templates to manage step 1 & 2 grievance procedures;
• Monitor ongoing LR issues, identify trends or bargaining issues, and proactively surface and mitigate risks; and,

Improve Processes and Procedures:

• Create and deliver user friendly toolkits and checklists to make policies and programs accessible;
• Key contributor in the continuous improvement of HR policies, initiatives, standards, and guidelines in line with legislation and industry best practices;
• Responsible for transactional processing within Pembina systems ensuring information is submitted to the correct parties, platforms, and programs for timely processing;
• Key enabler in supporting the HR cyclical activities and ensuring they are sequenced and managed in such a way we deliver to a high standard of quality and efficiency;

o Co-lead execution of HR cyclical activities, such as goal setting, performance reviews, headcount budgets, and compensation;

o Ensure workflow and processes are completed when changes or events occur in the employee life cycle; and,

o Seek input to the annual calendar of programs layering on projects, policy review requirements and other key organizational initiatives;

• Foster a team environment that values inclusion and diversity; and
• Other duties or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• In depth knowledge of employment standards and human rights legislation;
• Labor relations experience required;
• Experience providing advisory service to leaders and employees in all areas related to core Human Resources functions;
• Experience facilitating training and planning sessions to leaders and employees;
• Experience in the HR cyclical activities of Compensation, Succession Planning, Performance Management, Workforce Planning;
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish trust, sell ideas, influence others, and build relationships with people at all levels of an organization;
• Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills;
• Problem solver with the ability to diagnose and analyze root causes to issues and recommend sustainable solutions;
• Proven track record as a project lead with strong time management and project management skills;
• A team player who engages and cross collaborates across HSU;
• Change agent that champions HSU’s transformation to the business and within HSU;
• Continuous improvement mindset and approach to work, identifying opportunities for improvement and engaging appropriate HSU stakeholders in the solution;
• Flexible, adaptable, learns quickly demonstrates courage and self-awareness; and
• Proficient in MS Office, SuccessFactors and a HRIS (SAP) database environment
