Q&A Allergy Looking for Medical Office Assistant (Part-time) at Mississauga, ON Full Time

Specialty Medical Clinic in Mississauga looking for motivated and reliable individuals to join the team!

We are in need of a part-time medical office assistant to perform various office and clinical duties. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of medical terminology, word processing software, and EMR (ideally Practice Solutions (PSS)). Experience in the listed clinical responsibilities will be an asset, but training will be provided.

Hours: 15-30 hours per week (2 to 4 days per week)

Applicant MUST be available typical office hours (Monday-Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm)

Interviews will take place through November 2022. The successful candidate will begin training on December 1, 2022.

Administrative Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Greeting and registering patients
• Confirming and updating patient demographics and health card information at each appointment
• Scheduling and confirming appointments to optimize clinic efficiency (by phone, online and in person)
• Reviewing and send correspondence from physicians to appropriate parties
• Assisting with scheduling referral and diagnostic service appointments for all
• Managing phone calls, faxes and scanned/paper documents in a timely manner
• Handling third-party billings, and invoice reconciliation
• Coordinating supplies inventory with physicians

Clinical Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing examination rooms prior to patient appointments and managing patient flow
• Ensuring medical supplies/equipment/injections are prepared for each appointment
• Measuring and recording patients’ vital signs, height, weight and waist circumference, as appropriate
• Responding to physician-assigned tasks, related to test results, referrals, and call backs
• Perform allergy skin prick testing – training will be provided by the clinic
• Perform spirometry – training will be provided by the clinic

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Medical Office Assistant Certificate or equivalent in education or past experience
• One to two years of postsecondary education in a related field, or equivalent
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Computer knowledge: Intermediate Word, Excel, Email, Internet, Electronic Medical Record systems, general troubleshooting
• Working experience with electronic medical records, preferably Practice Solutions
• Pleasant demeanour, professionalism and excellent customer service skills are essential
• Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
• Able to provide references and criminal record check upon request
• Due the the immune status of some of our patients, proof of COVID-19 vaccination (3 doses) is required.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $16.00-$19.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

COVID-19 considerations:
Our office will provide appropriate PPE when you are in the office namely face mask and face shield. Due the the immune status of some of our patients, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
