Who We Are

Socks 4 Souls Canada ​is a small non-profit, primarily volunteer-run organization committed to providing unhoused people with warmth, comfort, dignity, mobility and health through new socks.​ Good foot health has a tremendous impact on one’s ability to seek food, shelter, medical care and other social services.

As a registered Canadian charity, we procure both socks and monetary donations from school & workplace sock drives, corporate partners, businesses, community organizations and private citizens. ​ Our vision is that every person experiencing homelessness in Ontario is able to maintain good foot health that is essential for their mobility, by accessing new, clean socks. 

The Opportunity

We are seeking a self-starter, hands-on, and motivated Corporate Development professional to join our small team in the Greater Toronto Area to fundraise and build our corporate partnerships portfolio. You will lead and be the primary driver of our corporate development and fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Managing Director and Board of Directors. A committed relationship-builder, you will ensure a positive corporate partnership experience through awareness, onboarding, cultivation, ongoing engagement, and growth opportunities. 

Primary Responsibilities

Your primary accountability will be to seek out and secure new corporate partnerships and donations. Working closely with the Managing Director and the Board, you will create and implement an annual Corporate Development plan. The sources of annual and ongoing support will include corporate donations / sponsorshipsl, in-kind donations, fund/sock raising activities and events that include employee sock and donation drive programs, sports team or group fundraising programs etc.

Builds and develops partner and sponsor relationships by:

• Creating and customizing partnership packages and proposals
• Working with Board lead to leverage Board member networks
• Actively seeking out and initiating new partnerships, targeting various opportunities involving corporate and community partners.
• Building, managing and nurturing a portfolio of corporate partner prospects utilizing the principles of relationship/moves management i.e. pipeline, KPI’s, strategic plan, materials, 
• Comfortable with cold calling, outbound outreach through channels like LinkedIn, and networking. 
• Where required, assist with stewarding and growing existing and previous relationships and prospects and harnessing the potential of each relationship.
• Identifying partners’ needs for acknowledgment and visibility in order to negotiate mutually beneficial partnership terms.
• Filling out and submitting corporate funding and grant proposals.
• Delivering excellence in donor relations to maximize revenue gained from partnerships.
• Ensuring timely and accurate recording of moves management activity with prospects – track briefing notes, call and activity reports.
• Preparing (monthly) corporate pipeline and fundraising update reports for the Board.
• Contributing to and developing marketing ideas and tactics to drive awareness with the corporate and B2B donor community (generate ideas that spark inbound inquiries to run employee fundraising events, corporate partnerships, consumer promotions etc)

Additional Responsibilities:

• Support the Managing Director with other fundraising initiatives i.e. donor cultivation and stewardship, Year-End Campaigns, and new fundraising initiatives. 
• Attend weekly virtual update meetings with the Managing Director.
• Prepare monthly corporate development reports for the Board.
• Attend Socks 4 Souls Canada and related industry events as required.

Working Conditions

• This is a part-time contract position for 15-20 hours per week.
• This position is 100% remote.
• Some in-person meetings will be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years experience in Corporate Development and fundraising for a non-profit with a proven track record of cultivating and securing new partnerships.  

• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

• Excellent writing, prospect research, communication, and presentation skills. 

• Ability to leverage relationships with existing GTA corporations, brands, and foundations who would be a fit for Socks 4 Souls Canada.

• Strategic thinker, attention to detail and strong corporate development portfolio management skills. 

• Hands on doer who can operate independently and build proposals and supporting materials to drive interest and secure new corporate partners, sponsors and donors.

• Knowledge of Microsoft office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

• Grassroots and/or smaller or startup non-profit organization experience an asset.

• Must be based on the Greater Toronto Area.

• Association of Fundraising Professionals membership an asset.
