Are you looking to continue your Human Resources career but with more flexibility? Southdale Canadian Tire is looking for a Human Resources Assistant to join our Administrative team. You’ll be responsible for recruiting and onboarding staff and management, monitoring and assigning staff training and supporting employment and payroll programs. This role requires a high level of discretion and the safeguard of confidential information.

This role is a part-time role, with the successful candidate working 24 hours per week on site, including one evening shift.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Encourages and maintains a culture that values excellent customer service to all customers through an effective training and onboarding structure within the store.
• Responds and handles customer, candidate, vendor, and staff inquiries, requests, and concerns in a timely manner, through all communication channels.
• Coordinates the recruitment and selection of new employees, including reviewing online and in person applications and resumes, conducting phone screens, interviews, reference and background checks.
• Assists in assessing staffing needs and subsequently creates and issues required job postings.
• Coordinates store staff training, including e-Learning administration, communication, and support, in collaboration with the respective Department Manager and Store Manager.
• Maintains employees’ training records by assigning IDs and curriculum (CTU, CTDA Health & Safety, etc.) and ensuring completion of training programs.
• Monitors progress and provides feedback upon completion of orientation and training to the respective Department Manager and Store Manager.
• Maintains accurate and comprehensive personnel records, in accordance with minimum provincial standards.
• Assists with the preparation of formal communications to employees and with the preparation and mailing/distribution of general correspondence and reports as required.
• Maintains accurate records on a variety of HR related documents.
• Ensures compliance of all legislative requirements and responds to government agencies as required.[NH1]
• Reports any conflict for resolution to Associate Dealer and/or General Manager.
• Adheres to all Health and Safety practices and promotes a culture of safety within the store.
• Attends and actively participates in meetings.
• Other duties related to the role, as required.

Skills and Qualifications

• Completion of a Human Resources Certificate program, or in-depth experience in hiring, onboarding, and training in a similar setting.
• Good understanding of Human Rights and Employment Standards Legislation.
• Proficient in office software systems, Microsoft Word and Excel,.
• Experience with payroll systems an asset.
• Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong belief in the Canadian Tire Values of honesty, integrity and respect.
• Highly approachable individual who possesses solid administrative skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a professional manner and to inspire others confidence and trust.
• Strong team-oriented approach.
• Ability to multitask, adapt and cope with challenging situations
