Role
Performs general labour support duties to ensure the upkeep and proper functioning of structures, equipment and facilities and executes the activities related to the handling of vessel mooring lines.
Responsibilities
• Clean and maintain buildings and facilities;
• Completes maintenance tasks associated with the proper housekeeping of buildings and Seaway grounds throughout the year such as grass cutting, snow removal, landscaping, minor repairs, painting, minor concrete repairs and asphalt cold patching, etc.;
• Operates minor equipment (where no specialized license is required), vehicles and tools related to duties and logs the working conditions of these as required.
• Deliver supplies and equipment – as required
• Inspect and secure tools and equipment required to perform work
• Perform security sweeps – as required
• Escort 3rd party contractors to access Seaway assets – as required
• Assist Operations and Maintenance staff during major breakdowns
• Provide assistance during confined space entries – as required
Line handler: (occasional)
• Performs all activities related to receiving and casting off mooring lines for vessels;
• Performs general lock maintenance duties and assists in handling minor emergency repairs to lock equipment;
• Perform any activities related to security of the operational facilities in compliance with the applicable security requirements;
• Applies safe work methods in compliance with corporate safety programs and applicable legislation.
• Assists in a transit by handling mooring lines and securing ships in lock chamber or approach.

Experience and knowledge
Less than 1 year related experience
Knowledge of the applicable procedures, rules, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties.
Knowledge of minor repair and maintenance techniques
Basic knowledge of computer applications and tools as well as related office software
Knowledge of cleaning (MSDS training)
Hazardous Materials training
Education
• High School Diploma
Certifications
• Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver’s license and insurable driving record

Hours of work: 40 per week
Pay Grade: O&M 2
Salary:
Step 1 : CAN28.64/hour
Step 2 : CAN30.85/hour
