The Hillman Group Looking for Logistics Specialist – Afternoon Shift – 12 PM to 8 PM at Toronto, ON Full Time

Summary

The Logistic Specialist will work closely with all departments mainly the Warehouse, Customer Service the Purchasing Department to facilitate the timely delivery of orders. He/She will be responsible for the acquisition and maintenance of a transportation network that deliver optimal service for deliveries at the best possible cost. This will include all aspects of import and export activities engaged by the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Liaise with Operations, Purchasing, QA and Sales team to identify inbound and outbound requirements
• Communicate with carries on a daily basis
• Work with operations team to review projected next day’s inbound and outbound schedule
• Act as a gate keeper and will need to have a clear understanding of all carrier arrivals and check ins.
• Assignment of dock door to drivers upon arrival
• Record receiving check ins at scheduled times each day
• Enforce Hillman wheel Chock policy
• Ensure all the corrective actions are taken including reporting to dispatch repairs needed and drivers involved.
• Ensure that carriers/operations provide accurate paperwork for all outbound and inbound shipments.
• Manage inbound schedule through Appointment Plus and outbound schedule manually (Drop & Pick, Pick up schedule).
• Schedule all daily pick up requests.
• Request for pick up via customer portal (RPT/RTS/TMS).
• Track, trace, expediting and troubleshoot in transit shipments.
• Manage freight claims.
• Requests PODs (Proof of Delivery) from carriers when required.
• Ensure carrier reports are delivered as per reporting schedule and entered into database.
• Scan and archive daily outbound BOL (Bill of Lading).
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Support and follow internal health and safety programs and protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Completed College Diploma.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Operations and Logistics.
• Experience with WMS, ERP, and TMS systems.
• Transportation and regulatory knowledge.
• Import and export process knowledge.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills in order to develop and maintain business relations.
• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel – intermediate) are required.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, resourceful, and self-reliant.
• Must be a team player, able to work under pressure, meet deadlines.
• Willing and able to work on a flexible schedule and overtime when required.
