Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and working with our Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator, the HR/Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing bilingual support in all areas of Human Resources and Health and Safety Coordination. This person will and will be responsible for full cycle recruitment as well as health and safety related responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources Job Responsibilities:
- Ongoing recruitment activity including attracting quality talent, determining applicant qualifications, conducting preliminary phone interviews, analyzing responses, verifying references, comparing qualifications to job requirements
- Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during the selection process
- Successfully research and implement new recruitment techniques to secure the talent required for our complex, national business
- Promote positive employee relations
- Provide support to supervisors/managers in performance management, discipline, HR best practices
- Counsel supervisors on education and enforcement of company policies and procedures
- Assist with payroll administration, serving as payroll back-up as required
- Assist with the administration of non-occupational disability management
- Other HR duties as assigned
Health and Safety Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator to ensure safety compliance is maintained in our Quebec branches
- Verifies certifications are obtained and monitor compliance for all employees
- Partner with Human Resources on issues related to investigations and return to work planning.
- Manage and update SDS
- Participate with the Health and Safety committees
- Occupational Injury Claims Management responsibilities, including claims reporting and management
- Maintain record/database of all hazards, near misses, work refusals etc. for reporting purposes
- Ongoing Case Management and Return to Work through partnering with the Human Resources team, branch and Union Representatives as appropriate
- Other duties pertaining to workplace health and safety, as required
Qualifications:
- University/College degree or diploma in Human Resource Administration and Health and Safety and
- Must be bilingual (French/English)
- Strong knowledge of employment standards, labour legislation and health and safety regulations. Specifically, COR, CNESST, Quebec employment standards and Quebec French Language requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a human resources, or health and safety role
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with ability to articulate with accuracy and detail
- High level of computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be flexible and have the ability to manage ever changing priorities and multi-task and meet goals/deadlines
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines, have excellent organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail, and an ability to reprioritize based on changing business needs
- Experience in administering and/or preparing training programs an asset
- Ability to work independently with frequent progress updates
