The Opportunity:
As Walker Industries continues to grow, the HR Generalist role has become an integral part of the organization’s business units. Working closely with the HR Manager of the Aggregates & Construction Division, the successful candidate will support our locations in Simcoe and Grey-Bruce to help manage the recruitment process, facilitate training initiatives, monitor the performance management program and administer our employee programs.
This role is based out of our Barrie office, with flexibility for regular site visits throughout Simcoe and Grey-Bruce.
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will have proven HR experience, having worked in an HR generalist capacity for at least three (3) years. They will have an advanced level of interpersonal and communication skills and be able to relate to all levels of the organization. Managing personal information in a professional and confidential manner is vital. Strong computer skills with an ability to analyze data or problems and make recommendations that at times can be complex in nature is a true asset.

Key Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will be able to juggle a variety of HR tasks, specifically:
Manages recruitment projects for all staff within assigned businesses and provides advice on offers in line with compensation strategies. Conducts interviews and assessments and liaises with hiring managers and recruiting agencies to support the staffing process. Prepares offer letters and completes appropriate documentation for new employees to comply with company policies and procedures. Ensures the enrolment into group benefits and retirement programs for new employees.
Assists with performance management issues to ensure managers are equipped to conduct appraisals and disciplinary meetings.
In conjunction with the HR Manager and the Vice-President of Human Resources and managers, manages termination/severance process. Prepares proper documentation, advises on content of packages and is present during termination meetings.
Responds to inquiries from managers and employees regarding company policies, procedures, and legislation and assists in resolving issues or concerns while considering ethical and legal requirements.
Manages disability claims and liaises with the third party provider to streamline the claims process. Assists in the Company’s safe & early return to work program.
Creates reports and analyzes data for HRIS in order to respond to requests from managers and make change recommendations.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a two or three year College Diploma/University Degree in Business Administration with Human Resources concentration is required. CHRP is required.
Experience: Preferred three to five years human resources experience
