Logistics Manager

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced logistics manager to be responsible for overseeing the logistics of our company’s transportation-related activities in North America. In this role, you’ll be keeping track of transportation operations and ensuring that all policies, procedures, and safety rules are followed.
To be a successful logistics manager, you should possess exceptional leadership skills and maintain the company’s high standard of customer service. Ultimately, a top-notch logistics manager should be able to display extensive knowledge of transportation management systems and have excellent analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Align with Walter strategic goals, including but not limited to, cost reduction,
EBIT reductions, cost avoidance and special project implementation.
- Optimize the Transportation network to achieve best practices in alignment with business requirements by preforming of RFP
- Be responsible for compliance and knowledge of Transport Canada regulations,
- CTPAT security program, PIP (Partner in Protection) and CSA (Custom Self-Assessment) and all related audits, and other safety standards.
- Source and negotiate for services and preferential rates for freight forwarders or carriers for international and national freight in sea, air, land, and parcel shipments.
- Organize and control the inbound and outbound of goods. Focusing on efficiency, pricing, and service levels.
- Look for opportunities to reduce/optimize overall freight cost envelop. Recommend solutions/propose new initiatives to continuously improve our transport operation processes, customer services and become more efficient.
- Oversee custom clearance operations for imports and exports for both Canada and
USA and provide needed paperwork.
- Create and maintain measurable performance metrics (KPI’S) for Inbound and
Outbound transportation activities.
- Monitor company’s or department’s performance, prepare reports for senior management, and plan for changes to schedules and policies.
- Recruit and train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
- Planning, organizing, and managing subordinate staff members to ensure work is completed and consistent with the company’s standards.
- Directing investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
- Arrange for shipping documentation and the tracking and tracing of goods in transit.
- Oversee the scheduling of land transportation, cargo ships and trains.
- Monitors supplier’s KPI`s and generate report for the same.
Required skills & aptitudes
- Good communication skills are a must with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of ERP systems including TMS.
- Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics.
- Knowledge of CBSA on commercial importation.
- Knowledge of 3PL, 4PL, and Transport logistics.
- Knowledge of Incoterms 2020.
- Experience in strategic sourcing & budgeting.
- Recognized for your leadership and innovation (C.I.).
- Advanced knowledge in the Microsoft Office environment (MS Project, Word,
Excel, Power Point and MS Outlook).
- Strong capabilities in operational, commercial, and financial management.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Good conflict resolution skills.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in in Transportation/Logistics, Engineering or Business
Administration or any other university degree from a relevant field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in transportation operations is required, including supervisory experience.
- Experience in shipping Dangerous Goods is an asset.
- Bilingualism in French & English is a must.

Salary: $70,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
