Position Summary: This course provides Teacher Candidates with a foundation in theories of learning, development and classroom management which will guide teaching practice. Throughout the course, current theoretical approaches and key concepts in learning, child development, and classroom management are considered in the context of relevant classroom applications. Depending on Teacher Candidates’ program division (Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate) the course will emphasize topics related to the very young, middle-childhood and/or adolescent students.
Qualifications – Required: Master’s degree in education or related discipline; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 12 Teaching Certification; K – 12 teaching experience.
Qualifications – Discipline: Education or related content area.
Qualifications – Areas of Specialization: Learning and Child Development.
Qualifications – Preferred or an asset: Doctoral degree in education or related discipline; post-secondary teaching experience in teacher education; Teaching in Ontario schools (K-6 experience for PJ sections, grades 4-10 for JI sections); School leadership experience.
