Bluelime Technical Services Looking for Developer IV – Enbridge at Edmonton, AB Full Time

Role involves development, maintenance, and support of SCADA, Leak Detection (LD), and Liquid Pipelines Control Centre Operations (CCO) systems and decision support tools.

It is heavy on software programming, troubleshooting/debugging, low level unit testing of complex systems.

Project may involve modernization, expansion, and enhancements of existing applications.

Also involves operational tasks including, on-call support and working with product owner to resolve productions issues, bugs, and minor enhancements.

Technical

Must have:

• MUST be knowledgeable with SDLC and software development best practices and tools.
• MUST have solid understanding in automated dependency management, static code analysis source revision control, continuous integration, and code review.
• MUST have solid hands-on working experience with programming languages: Java, Python, C#. At least 4 continuous years of experience on at least 2.
• MUST have solid hands-on working experience in development tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Red Hat, and Windows Server, etc.

Nice to have:

• Nice to have MS Azure or Enterprise GitHub, Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
• Nice to have working experience in mission-critical and real time applications.

Primary Focus

To develop and enhance Enbridge Liquids Pipeline (LP) Operational Technology (OT) systems in support of Control Centre Operations and related business areas. The primary focus of this role involves:

• Planning, organizing, tracking, and documenting all project and support activities, in order to deliver quality software products and services while satisfying business needs within the specified time and budget.
• Work collaboratively within the team and staff from other areas to produce the best solution in accordance with the best practices, standards, policies, and processes of software development.
• Managing and resolving software issues and client requests within the defined business areas.
• Maintaining and enhancing existing LP OT systems with a risk mindset.

Specific Accountabilities

• Perform or participate in the research, design, development, risk assessment, and testing of new products and/or functional enhancements to existing products, and their implementation into the SCADA and/or Leak Detection systems in accordance with Enbridge policies, processes, and procedures.
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, application testing, and configuration changes of custom-developed SCADA and Leak Detection software products.
• Be responsive, supportive, and available to other teams within Pipeline Control Systems and Leak Detection (PCSLD) department, CCO, and other business areas (i.e., other TIS groups).
• Demonstrate technical leadership on projects, project teams and product development.
• Support SCADA Operations through the 7X24 call-out rotation during transition of Software Solutions projects, and any critical priority development support work.
• Demonstrate an understanding of software development best practices, standards, and operating procedures as applicable to mission critical, SCADA and Leak Detection software development.
• Perform code reviews on developers of all experience levels, with the ability to give and take constructive feedback.
• Prepare and maintain up-to-date documentation per Enbridge standards.
• Demonstrate commitment to the Software Solutions team and its success.
• Participate in the Enbridge Health and Safety program.
• Deliver to customer requirements with consideration to overall corporate strategy.
• Assist clients with the adoption of new technologies and business processes.
• Maintain leading edge technical skills through regular technical training, industry conferences, and internal cross-training, and use that knowledge to help the entire team stay current on industry/technology trends.

Scope

• Involve in design, code reviews, and technology investigations required for projects involving the Software Solutions Team.
• Design, develop, implement, and support SCADA and/or Leak Detection applications/products.
• Provide input and feedback on the team’s Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and quality processes to ensure continuous improvement within the team.
• Regular communication with project managers, agile coach, and/or Supervisor as defined by each project’s communication plan.
• Failure to deliver on high priority initiatives has potential to impact overall company performance or commitments to Enbridge customers.

• Directly reports to the Supervisor of PCSLD Software Solutions.
• Works with an Agile team
• Collaborates with the TIS Enterprise Architecture teams regarding technologies and road-map direction.
• Consults with the Software Solutions Architect and PCSLD Lead Architect regarding the use and approval of new technologies, applications, and enterprise technology direction.

Working Conditions

• Work is conducted primarily in an office environment. I.e., 3 days in the office (M-T-Th), 2 days from home (W-F)
• Primary office location: Edmonton, AB
• Remote Work considered for strong candidates
• Occasional travel to primary office for training and important department meetings/events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Relevant degree / diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 continuous years of work experience.
• Strong industry expertise in C#, Python and/or Java with an excellent track record of designing and implementing complex system software.
• Some knowledge and experience in SCADA, communication protocols, PLC/RTU/DCS data driver development and both historical and real-time data access methodologies.
• Working knowledge of Unix and/or Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Ability to provide technical leadership to junior staff
• Strong analytical communications and problems solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including good presentation skills and ability to write technical documents/specifications.
• Sound organizational skills. Able to handle multiple tasks and multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, priority-changing environment.
