We are looking for a Logistics Officer ,who will work with the Logistics Manager to support projects for both international and domestic responses. This is inclusive of the deployment of Health Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and Non-Food Items(NFI), support ERU Training, preparing for future deployments and other special projects as they arise.
In this role, you will:
Support the deployment CRC ERU and NFI assets into emergency operations including but not limited to charter of aircraft, customs documentation, cold chain, pharmaceuticals, and onward forwarding.
Execute complex procurement of goods and services for the emergency operations programs including sourcing, negotiation, contracting, supplier quality, cost savings, supplier performance monitoring; Engage the CRC Procurement hub team as required.
Participate in JIT kitting activities at the Warehouse when required
Assist Operations/Response department with the opening, scaling up, scaling down and closing
of emergency operations and early recovery programs as required.
Assist in the planning and coordination of domestic and international cargos shipments for routine and emergency shipments.
Build the capacity of CRC to provide common logistic services (CLS) to external clients and stakeholders
Providing logistic turnkey solutions that include but are not limited to; warehousing, transportation, customs support, coordination between various clients, contracting, procurement and reverse logistic
Monitors contractors’ deliverables and performance, processes changes/modifications, and performs contract close out;
What we are looking for:
College or University Degree with focus on Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Procurement or a combination of education and experience that would be considered equivalent;
Minimum of 2 years of experience in supply chain and logistics; in large-scale high-volume Medical/Health Care procurement and supply chain would be considered an asset
Demonstrable experience and advanced level of skill on MS Office suite and an ERP systems (SAP, Dynamics AX) is required;
Experience working internationally in a humanitarian context is preferred especially Red Cross Red Crescent movement, particularly with the IFRC Global Tools
Demonstrable knowledge of donor requirements as they relate to procurement and logistics
Deep understanding of international logistics components such as freight forwarding, import/export, source to pay workflow
Highly developed analysis and planning skills, using innovation and creative thinking
Fluency in English is required, proficiency in French is preferred, other language abilities an asset (especially Spanish and Arabic)
Working Conditions:
The majority of the work is remote based,may include long to moderate hours sitting and using computers and office equipment.
May be required to some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time up to 20kg (or another weight)
Ability to work non-traditional hours on short notice, often in ambiguous conditions.
This position may require domestic or overseas travel to attend conferences, workshops and meetings as required.
If required, and eligible, periodic travel to country operations may be required (both international and domestic).
Field missions can involve working in environments that are unstable and with unpredictable access to basic services in emergency contexts and requiring very strict adherence to security regulation.
Must be able to be Medical Cleared for travel in accordance with established CRC Medical criteria in positions where travel will be required
Successfully complete a Canadian criminal record reference check and vulnerable sector check
