The Compensation Specialist works closely with the Senior Compensation Manager by ensuring Compensation programs are consistently coordinated and audited in compliance with company policies and government regulations, and that programs and practices are regularly benchmarked against industry best practices. The individual will actively partner with the Client Advisory teams and other Human Resources functions to deliver on Compensation priorities by supporting delivery of the company’s pay programs, analyzing Compensation data and identifying trends and generating reports.
What You’ll Do
- Work in partnership with peers and Client Advisory groups to deliver all compensation programs
- Conduct market research to support the efficient and effective functioning of the Compensation Team. Keep tabs and report on industry and market trends
- Complete detailed market pricing of benchmark jobs annually and conduct analysis on non-benchmark jobs as required
- Develop and conduct ad hoc surveys as assigned and complete materials required for timely submission of major third-party surveys
- Coordinate and participate in job evaluation of positions using established tools, discuss evaluations at JE meetings and maintain records
- Provide analytical support in annual Compensation planning process and other programs as assigned
- Analyze impact of mass changes to compensation
- Actively participate in execution of annual year end Compensation (STIP and merit) processes
- Attend industry compensation events to gather insights and consolidate market trends
What You’ll Need
- Minimum 1 year experience in a sophisticated organization, with exposure to crafting and/or coordinating compensation programs for a client group
- Post-secondary education in the areas of business, human resources, or a related field
- Solid understanding of basic Compensation terms and concepts
- A high level of proficiency with MS Excel, and a proven grasp of other MS Office applications
- Highly resourceful, inquisitive, and motivated self-starter
- Highly organized and has a high degree of attention to detail, with an ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrable ability to consolidate and analyze high volumes of moderately complex data and generate basic to intermediate level observations
- Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize work to meet shifting and oftentimes opposing deadlines and priorities
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designations are assets
