PURPOSE:
The role of the HR Operations Specialist consists of multiple facets related to the delivery of HR essential work across Canada. This role will act as the country’s central point of contact for the implementation of regional, global, and local I&D initiatives and will also coordinate local key projects on compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be responsible for the daily transaction management and act as the first point of contact for the Canada team
Works closely with internal and external partners in the event of legislation changes requiring updates workplace policies (e.g., Harassment, violence in the workplace, etc.) and/or the development and introduction of new policies
Coordinate Employee Benefits and Pension plans, including submissions, enrollment to benefits plans, answer benefits-related questions and keep a good up-to-date record of all new applicants and participants (and the level of respective benefits) and address all benefits plans related queries/questions.
Provide guidance and assistance to the payroll team in regard to severance requirements on terminations. Verifying if severance is eligible or ineligible in compliance with all Provincial Employment Standards Act.
Guidance to the Health and Safety committee on processes, requirements, and legal advice.
Utilize knowledge of HR legal issues to best support the business and ensure compliance with employment laws, with the support of the Human Resources Director
Lead all new hire onboardings – including orientation, documentation and system request processing.
Handle the following areas: unemployment claims, employee leave, vacation, employee benefits, validate payroll process and communication, provide policy and procedures explanations, support employee relations activities and assist in review of employee grievances.
Works in close collaboration with key stakeholders and various COEs to support key processes such as employee relations, talent management, organizational transformation, and other critical HR initiatives
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years Human Resources or relevant business experience
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems
Experience working in a global mid-size to large company in a highly matrix environment
Solid knowledge of Canada provincial laws, benefits administration, compliance, and payroll practices
Strong employee relations experience
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
Strong understanding of local sourcing tools, like resume databases and online communities
