Position: Senior Accountant
Location: Downtown Toronto – hybrid opportunity (first few weeks will be 100% on site for initial training)
Our client, a growing professional services firm based in downtown Toronto, is actively seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team!
Role and Responsibilities:
– Ensure adherence to accounting standards, organizational policies, and regulatory guidelines while consistently enhancing financial procedures and internal controls
– Compile and assess financial statements, reports, and projections, presenting discoveries to management and key stakeholders
– Oversee the processes of budgeting and forecasting, furnishing precise and timely financial data for strategic planning
– Analyze financial data, trends, and deviations, providing insights and suggestions to optimize financial performance and mitigate risks
– Collaborate with external entities such as auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders to facilitate audits, tax filings, and ensure regulatory compliance
– Deploy and sustain accounting software systems, refining processes to augment efficiency and precision
– Offer guidance, mentorship, and training to junior team members, cultivating a supportive and high-achieving team ethos
– Engage in distinctive projects, initiatives, or enhancements to processes, contributing to the finance department’s objectives and broader organizational goals
Qualifications:
– Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is preferable
– Demonstrate a proven track record (5 years) in accounting, emphasizing financial reporting, analysis, and management
– Exhibit a robust understanding of accounting principles, standards, and regulations (GAAP/IFRS)
– Display proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills
– Showcase meticulous attention to detail, analytical acumen, and effective problem-solving capabilities
– Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate intricate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
– Possess leadership qualities with a collaborative and team-centric approach
– Be able to excel in a dynamic environment, effectively managing multiple priorities
